Being the son of King, Vegeta makes Vegeta the one and only "Prince of Saiyans." He possessed extraordinary power from the time of birth, originally worked for Freeza with Nappa and Raditz as his followers. After Raditz's death, Vegeta came to Earth with Nappa looking for the Dragonballs (it was his goal to overthrow Freeza). Instead he met his match in Goku, but escaped and returned to Freeza's base. After healing, he was shocked to learn that Freeza was on the Planet Namek looking for Dragonballs. Furious, he immediately departed for Namek, attempting to obtain the Dragonballs before Freeza did. Despite his vast power, Vegeta met stiff opposition on Namek, and reluctantly joined Gohan, Krillin, Goku..
During the battle with Freeza he is eventually killed. He is brought back life by the Dragonballs, and then brought to Earth. He eventually joins the Z-fighters, marries Bulma, and together they have a child named Trunks. Even later in the series Vegeta remains an outsider in the Z-team, and never loses his Saiyan pride. He is obsessed with power, and is very jealous of Goku's strength. Vegeta, later in the series, figures out that Goku only has tremendous power because he fights for the love of his friends and family. Vegeta in many ways was inspired by Goku.
